Chapter 9

 

I am happy about this chapter is about LinkedIn because I just installed LinkedIn and create my account last week. Since I turned junior this April (Japanese academic year starts in April), I recently think about my future career.

Things I like about LinkedIn is that it does not only allow you to find a job, but also to contact those who are in charge of human resources. Thanks to the progress of technology, we can have a job interview remotely. In addition to these, corporations can find their job hunters. In my image, jobhunters can find the companies at which they want to work. That is why I really like this system derived from LinkedIn because companies are able to increase the likelihood of hiring the people they really want.

Here are some things that I newly learned. LinkedIn is one of the biggest leading paid social platforms by B2B marketers to distribute content worldwide. Based on the graph of the textbook, LinkedIn got higher percentage than Facebook, which made me so surprised. I did not know that there is polls or newsletters in LinkedIn. I found it wonderful.

As time flies, LinkedIn is going to be more and more important platform for me, I would like to get a big dream with LinkedIn.

       I learned that social media marketing spending in the US is increasing year by year. And it’s growing at a very brisk pace, averaging about 10 percentage per year. I was surprised that the cost on social media advertising is much lower than that of other ads. Chapter 11

  Speaking of social media which provide you with shot videos, most people would imagine TikTok. I think the popularity of TikTok enabled another social media to introduce short videos. However, TikTok is still one of the most popular media for short videos all over the world. I do not watch TikTok recently, but I used to get into TikTok when I was a high school student. It is a good tool because they showed me videos based on my preference. Also, I barely get bored of watching videos because every video is short. Another thing that I like about TikTok is we can know the trends. It can be music, fashion, worldwide and so on. Because lots of celebrities use TikTok, they have a lot of power for trends as influencers. After reading the textbook, I got surprised the distribution of TikTok users in the United States. Chapter1 of the textbook

I have my doubts about the statement that 67% of the world’s population uses mobile devices. I felt doubtful because this percentage was very high. There are a lot of children and older people all over the world. Basically, I think too young people and too old people tend not to use their phone. In addition to this, there are many poor people including those who live below the poverty line. Given these two things, I would like to say that the actual percentage should be lower than the statement in the textbook. That statement might exclude such kinds of people though. By the way, I looked at the screen time of my smartphone. I spent 6 hours for the use of phone on daily average last week. While the average worldwide is 2 hours and 29 min, mine was 3 hours 5 min per day. I often tend to spend more time on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and so on.
