Difference Between University in Japan and ONU

I will state the difference between my own university in Japan and ONU only based on my feeling and experience.

First of all, the scale of the university is completely different. While ONU has around 3,000 students in total, there are about 30,000 in my school in Japan. The good thing of smaller university is that the number of people per each class is less. It enables you to have more chance to speak out and to contribute to the discussion. These are the good opportunities to encourage the skills that we need even in the future. You can have a lot of experience before having a job and working with others. This is one of the reasons I chose ONU as the place to study abroad.

Secondly, I feel people here are more diligent and try to study compared to university students in Japan. Of course, there are a lot of people who study hard.  However, not everyone is passionate about studying. It often seems that skipping morning class due to staying up late last night. For some classes which I used to take, only 30 percent of all participants attended the class. For here, on the other hand, basically no one tries to absent from the class and they try to contribute to the class. This is a good trend and also natural. The reason students in Japan get lazy is might because it is hard to enter the university and we have to numerous amounts of efforts. If so, however, it cannot be the excuse of laziness in the university. That is why I have to emphasize this attitude after going back to Japan.

This time I mentioned two major sad things the university in Japan. So, I will try to state the good thing some day!!
