The Best Memory of Winter Break
Today I will write about a wonderful memory of last winter break.
I left here ONU on December 30th
for New York City. This was mostly because I wanted to join the Ball Drop,
which is one of the most famous events on New Year’s Eve in the world.
On
my way to New York, I got so delighted because I had never seen such a wonderful
view of the city from the sky. And I couldn’t sleep well at that night. I was
excited for the next day.
On
the very last day of the year, I woke up without an alarm. And I had to put the
diaper on because that was what I had learned on the internet. Then, I got to
Times Square at 10 a.m. However, there were already a lot of people and I saw a
long line. I stared waiting in line. After that it started to rain. Although
the weather forecast said it was not so cold, I felt really cold due to such a bad condition.
Since
having been waiting for five hours, suddenly, everyone was like “this line
could be wrong” and many people started getting out of the line. And I got out
of the line as well and had to wait in line again.
In
spite of such difficulties, I was able to get to the place where we could see
the Ball Drop. After the countdown, we celebrated the new year with amazing
joy! It was literally amazing! I thought I was so happy to be there. It was 14
hours after I started waiting in line. I got so tired,
and I really wanted to go
to the bathroom because I couldn’t go there at all, but more than that, I was
having a fantastic moment at that time.
It became
one of my best memories ever. I was so happy to be here in the US.
That is super cool that you got to experience New Year's Eve in Times Square! I lived down in Manhattan this summer and took a few trips to Times Square. It was always very crowded and full of people.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I have never been to New York before, but I'll be going soon due to a trip to Italy that I'm taking. I'm glad you got to have that experience, I'm sure it was one like no other!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great story! I couldn't imagine the amount of people, emotions and the overall atmosphere of an event of that size! Looks like a lot of fun but also just a wild experience!
