Chapter12

　After reading chapter12, I learned a lot about Blogs, Vlogs, Podcast, and Webinars.

　For blogs, I did not know the word blog came from “web log”. And I found the most popular topic of the blogs was fashion. I agree because I sometimes enjoy fashion blogs. One reason I like them is that I can get information about current trends. Another reason is that I can decide what to buy. I try to find a blog by a man who looks like me in terms of the height, figure or something like that. For these reasons, blogs play useful roles for me.

　For the Vlogs by the way, I have tried to make them a couple of times. It was fun because I could make a video as I wanted to. I made a travel Vlog, and it reminds me of the memories of that trip even now. That is why I like it. However, I felt it was hard to edit it. I had to cut the movie to an appropriate length and put the subtitles and sometimes music on it. If you would like to show the video and tell something, you have to put yourself in the viewer's shoes. Now that Vlogs are becoming more and more popular, I would like to try to make an attractive video. For this reason, I have to make more efforts on this class!

    I have so much respect for anyone who can edit videos and vlogs together like that! I'm sure it's a lot more work than everyday people may realize. I've never actually vlogged myself, but I've always thought it was an interesting medium to showcase your life in. I think travel vlogs specifically are really cool. It's fascinating to me, the things that people are drawn to in spaces they aren't familiar with. If you ever make another vlog like that, you should share it!

    I think it would be so interesting to make a vlog as well. I grew up watching Youtube videos and as I got older I could tell that they were gaining popularity. One of my favorite vloggers is Emma Chamberlain. She doesn't make videos too often anymore, but her travel vlogs are very informative.

Chapter 11

  Speaking of social media which provide you with shot videos, most people would imagine TikTok. I think the popularity of TikTok enabled another social media to introduce short videos. However, TikTok is still one of the most popular media for short videos all over the world. I do not watch TikTok recently, but I used to get into TikTok when I was a high school student. It is a good tool because they showed me videos based on my preference. Also, I barely get bored of watching videos because every video is short. Another thing that I like about TikTok is we can know the trends. It can be music, fashion, worldwide and so on. Chapter1 of the textbook

I have my doubts about the statement that 67% of the world’s population uses mobile devices. I felt doubtful because this percentage was very high. There are a lot of children and older people all over the world. Basically, I think too young people and too old people tend not to use their phone. In addition to this, there are many poor people including those who live below the poverty line. Given these two things, I would like to say that the actual percentage should be lower than the statement in the textbook. That statement might exclude such kinds of people though. By the way, I looked at the screen time of my smartphone. I spent 6 hours for the use of phone on daily average last week. While the average worldwide is 2 hours and 29 min, mine was 3 hours 5 min per day. I often tend to spend more time on social media such as Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and so on.
