Chapter1 of the textbook
I have my doubts about the statement that
67% of the world’s population uses mobile devices. I felt doubtful because this
percentage was very high. There are a lot of children and older people all over
the world. Basically, I think too young people and too old people tend not to
use their phone. In addition to this, there are many poor people including those
who live below the poverty line. Given these two things, I would like to say
that the actual percentage should be lower than the statement in the textbook.
That statement might exclude such kinds of people though.
By the way, I
looked at the screen time of my smartphone. I spent 6 hours for the use of
phone on daily average last week. While the average worldwide is 2 hours and 29
min, mine was 3 hours 5 min per day. I often tend to spend more time on social
media such as Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and so on. Sometimes it helps me get
information from around me to worldwide. However, I usually watch TikTok or
reels on Instagram late at night and most of them are just funny videos and no
longer useful for my life. This habit leads to drowsiness in the daytime, so I
have to take this lazy situation more seriously and make the daily life more
comfortable.
Hi Kanamu! Mobile devices have definitely changed the world, and I am not sure if it is a good change. The amount of time individuals spend on their devices is crazy. However, it is so easy to become wrapped up in social media, TikTok, Youtube, or Netflix. Not only do we spend tons of time on the internet, but our attention span has decreased. Hopefully, our generation can realize the impacts of social media, and maybe, we can fix our addictions to our phones.
