  Until now, for me, Instagram was just a tool to share my memories with my friends. After reading the textbook, however, I learned a new aspect of Instagram as a business. I was surprised that 90% of Instagram users follow a business. On second thought, I figured I was one of that 90% because I follow my favorite business brands such as Nike and Apple. In addition to that, I sometimes see the attractive ads on Instagram. I actually have not bought anything before, but I think I want to try some day. Another thing what I feel Instagram is a good social media is that there is a reel. Recently, I tend to spend a lot of time on Instagram reel. It is really nice because you may not get tired of shorter videos mostly less than one minute, and the videos displayed for you are based on your preferences.   Today I will share the wonderful experiences of last weekend with you. Last Saturday on February 18 th , I joined a competition of powerlifting. I’ve been into workout since came here in the US last summer and also belonged powerlifting club named “ONU Polarlifting”, so I was excited about my first experience. As a competition, we had to do two kinds of workout; bench press and deadlift. Personally, I lifted 200lbs for bench press and 355lbs for deadlift. Although I wasn’t able to make a personal record for bench press, I lifted the heaviest weight for deadlift. I was so happy because everyone was cheering up me while lifting. As a result, I won second place for my body weight class!! I was very glad and surprised at the same time because I thought I was not strong enough to beat other people.        I learned that social media marketing spending in the US is increasing year by year. And it’s growing at a very brisk pace, averaging about 10 percentage per year. I was surprised that the cost on social media advertising is much lower than that of other ads. While direct mail advertising costs 57 dollars per thousand, that of social media does only 2.5 dollars. Now I agree why we are always exposed to many ads when using a smartphone and a laptop. In addition to this, the number of people using electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, desktops and the user of social media including Instagram, twitter and so on has been gaining. For me, for instance, I often spend a lot of time on such kinds of social media like YouTube, Snapchat and etc. And I sometimes feel like “I wanna buy this product!” For this reason, advertising on social media plays a great role.

     I will state about the Podcast assignment below.      This was my first time to record podcast. That is why I felt so nervous. I am not confident in my pronunciation of English, but I think I did my best.      I talked about the potential risks and issues of social networking service caused by low literacy. Specifically, I mentioned six problems; leakage of personal information, account takeover, flaming, exposure, spoofing and fake news. Each issue could happen to you. I have seen fake news many times. 　After reading chapter12, I learned a lot about Blogs, Vlogs, Podcast, and Webinars. 　For blogs, I did not know the word blog came from “web log”. And I found the most popular topic of the blogs was fashion. I agree because I sometimes enjoy fashion blogs. One reason I like them is that I can get information about current trends. Another reason is that I can decide what to buy. I try to find a blog by a man who looks like me in terms of the height, figure or something like that. For these reasons, blogs play useful roles for me. 　For the Vlogs by the way, I have tried to make them a couple of times. It was fun because I could make a video as I wanted to. I made a travel Vlog, and it reminds me of the memories of that trip even now. That is why I like it. However, I felt it was hard to edit it.  Today I will write about a wonderful memory of last winter break. I left here ONU on December 30 th for New York City. This was mostly because I wanted to join the Ball Drop, which is one of the most famous events on New Year’s Eve in the world.   On my way to New York, I got so delighted because I had never seen such a wonderful view of the city from the sky. And I couldn’t sleep well at that night. I was excited for the next day.   On the very last day of the year, I woke up without an alarm.
